31 days of yoga

A local yoga spot, 8 Limbs Yoga and Boutique, hosted a 31 day challenge for the entire month of May. Everyday participants were given a different pose and had to take a picture.

 Before Marquesa was born I had a pretty consistent fitness routine which included yoga classes weekly and a ton of yoga play at home. I enjoy the physical part of yoga but for me it was more like therapy. My mood is more balanced, I’m less stressed, I sleep better, I have more energy, I’m happier, etc.  It wasn’t something that I had to put a ton of thought and effort into. It was something that I did regularly and it was more a habit. Like brushing my teeth! Fast forward to now… I have yet to come anywhere close to getting back to a consistent yoga routine. In fact sometimes the thought of trying to make it to a class is a chore itself. I can do it at home but I get so easily distracted with things and seem to forget/find an excuse to do it later or another time. Which is just weird because as much as I enjoy it I had stopped putting much, if any, effort into doing it.

 For me, getting to my mat is the HARDEST part. It’s amazing how easy it is to do yoga once I’m there ๐Ÿ˜‰ The same goes with most things in life. It’s so easy to have a list of all the things we want to do and never get to them. We don’t prioritize them and feel that we’ll have time later to do them. This challenge was a nice daily reminder to stop procrastinating and just practice some yoga, even for just a minute. I’ve also found myself randomly practicing throughout the day like I used to!

    You have given me the inspiration to begin learning yoga. Maybe someday we could get together for you to help me with some of the poses. Also, I love your blogs so, please keep writing.
